My boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for about 8 months now, I have never been so close to anyone in my life. When it comes to relationships I am extremely understanding and open and he gave the impression he was also, so I believed that this would very well work out for the rest of our lives. But it was only recently that we began to touch on a subject that after all this time he never mentioned having issues with: other religions. He is a mormon, my beliefs are a mix of a few paths. He said it was okay. But later I find out it bothers him and that the only reason he was with someone with different beliefs is because he assumed that I would eventually see what he saw in Mormonism and convert... I am outraged and devastated! I accepted him but turns out he is one of those people that believe that they are right and everyone else is wrong and it just sickens me. He is wanting ME to compromise and give his religion a chance but he wants nothing to do with the path I want to follow. Relationships are about balance and equal compromise and I just cant see how I could be happy with someone who expects me to submit like that with no consideration of my feelings. The only option I see here is to tell him we have to end it but I don't know if I can. I love him so much but I don't want to be miserable my whole life just because I couldn't say NO. He wants me to be a Mormon, I want each of us to follow our hearts and love and respect each other no matter where they lead us. Please share any wisdom you can spare :(... Read More »
